About KES Car Sharing
This is a service set up to provide an easy and quick way to organize lift shares with fellow parents and guardians for your journeys to and from KES.
Recently, KES won the Green Flag award, as part of the EcoSchools initiative - set up by the UN to promote environmental education and action within schools. As part of this, KES vowed to keep up its efforts to become a more environmentally friendly school.
For one of our more long term projects we chose to tackle the transport systems surrounding KES. To start we have designed a car sharing scheme. This relies on parents and pupils finding people in their local area, through a voluntary mapping system, so they can contact them to arrange a lift share.
Our plan is to promote:
- Environmental sustainability within KES and its community
- Friendship between year groups
- Tackling congestion around North Road
- Saving money on fuel
- Safety for cyclists and pedestrians aound the School
Through the pleniminiary planning and launching of this scheme, we hope that many of the parents, staff and pupils around KES can benefit from lift sharing through our scheme.
