There are numerous uses for (relational) databases in real life whether on the Internet (Tesco / ebay / Amazon / Maplin / Ebuyer) or not (Payroll, Stock Control, Air Traffic Control, Timetables). Make a list of any databases that use "lists" on the Internet. Social networking sites are essentially a series of databases with a website as the "front end"!
Excel
& Access - why both programs? Well they both enable us in varying ways to process Information in a System like way, though Access has a far greater range of useful tools, whilst Excel is used by less experienced users.
The First Assessment will be based on all of the Access work with problems similar to Questions 3, that is queries, totalling queries and export to Excel for the creation of bar charts. You will need to download the Assessment Questions and the database during the Assessment only! You may watch the lessons or read the files during the assessment though this will be at the expensive of time!
